Gokarna-Murudeshwar-Kollur Mookambika

Gokarna  

Literally meaning the 'Cow's ear". The ear shaped confluence of two river forms this town. This place derives its name due to Shiva emerging from the ears of a cow. Gokarna is famous for the 'Atmalinga' in the ancient temple here, which is also known as 'mahabala'. The OM beach and Kutle beach are worth a visit.

Activities in Gokarna 

Fishing along with the fisherman in the trolley boats in the sea, a visit to the Indo-Danish fisheries project, a visit to the tribal village, and feet the culture of the tribals, like dance, weaving etc.

Murudeshwar

This Picturesque place situated nearby Bhatkal has a gorgeous temple pearched on a hillock by the shore. The temple which embodies a linga is believed to have erupted when Ravana flung the cloth covering the Atmalinga at Gokarna while lifting it. As one ascends the hillock there is a shrine of jattiga seated on a horse. One can find a huge fort behind the temple, said to have been renovated by Tippu Sultan. Bounded by shining sea and rolling hills, this place is a favourite tourist spot. One can also visit the 'pigeon island' which is off the Murudeshwar coast. The Magestic considered as the tallest in the world.

Yana 

Set in the midst of lush green forest are the unique rock formation of yana. A perfect place for trekkers and rock climbers. The two peaks of Bhairaveshwara Shikara and Mohini Shikara are worth to watch and explore. The tiny shrine of Shiva is an attraction where a perennial stream bathes the Shiva Linga continuously.

Dandeli 

A Picturesque town set amidst the backdrop of the western ghats. Blessed with pleasant weather all through the year. Dandeli is a natural habitat for wildlife. The famous Dandeli game sanctuary houses some of the rare species like the barking deer sloth beer, civet cat, flying squirrel panther, sambar, gaur and wild dogs a few to name and birds. A few kilometers away perched in the middle of a steep rock is a beautiful cave one has to crawl through the entrance and will find a large ------------. 

The adventure lovers can take a ride in a coracle (round basket like boat) where one can watch crocodiles and water birds nesting or take a jeep safari or jungle walk in the forests, or take a elephant ride. It is also a perfect place for "river water rafting".

Attivere bird Sanctuary 

The attivere bird sanctuary houses about 79 species of birds, including migratory bird from about 22 countries, best seen between November and March.

Jog falls

Jog a hamlet of kargal village is famous for its magnificent waterfalls. The sharavati river flowing over a rocky bed takes a spectacular leap from a leap of 292 mts. And divides into 4 smaller ones, called as Raja, Rani, rocket and roarer perfecting a glorious view, best to be watched b/w June to December. This place is a tourists paradise all year round. It also consists plenty of wildlife a ideal place for trekking and water sports.

Magod falls

Magod falls is a scenic delight. The bedti river plunges into a 180 mts rocky valley.
